Duet Rose
Duet Rose is wonderful for cuttings and bouquets because of its delightful, yet not overly assertive, fragrance, and its two toned petals- a darker shade of pink on the outside, with a similar toned but lighter shade of pink on the inside.
There is something reminiscent and rich about this rose. It does not have an imposing posture and heft and there are certainly busier blossoms around; nevertheless, Duet will catch your eye.
Duet reminds me of the wonderful 1930s home that served as the setting for most of the Philadelphia Story with Katherine Hepburn, Cary Grant and Jimmy Stewart. Everything about that house said "taste". It was ornate but not showy, with details but without trivialities. The same should be said of Duet. Its blossoms are exquisite. Its older canes make direct zigzag cuts across its spread. They have somewhat of a blossoming cherry tree feel to them. Most of the flowers do not look down or to the side but instead sit completely parallel to the sky.
If I were a little girl, I would especially love to look out my bedroom window during midday nap time just to see several of these roses looking skyward. That is the kind of memory that spells home years later.
