The best of the PINK GRANDIFLORA ROSES are wonderful landscape roses and bouquet workhorses dressed in ruffles of delish pink petals. Their sculpted buds and constant blooming clusters of full flowers reveal their relation to their hybrid tea cousins.
The tremendously popular Queen Elizabeth was the first rose in this modern rose category. Fitting it is that this line began with royalty. Her prodigious dawn-pink petals look like the yummiest mille-feuille pastries. She stands proud and tall; I have seen her 10 feet plus.
Her clear verdant foliage exemplifies what we all want from modern roses. Give her space to breathe, three feet should be about right, and she will dust your garden sky and fully fill your vases with her 37 plus petal flowers.
While the Queen will always be the first, she does not stand alone. Others, such as Lagerfeld and About Face, are much larger than most floribundas and hybrid tea; however, some others are not as tall as you might expect.
Perhaps someday there will be a height requirement attached to this category. For now, it is best to check the detailed specifications of any rose you are thinking of including in your garden.
Below are more love-at-first-sight examples, all untouched by Photoshop, in their real perfection.
