Jo-Anne Coletti from Vintage Rose Collection is an exemplary artist and an avid blogger who specializes in roses. She loves worn and faded things. A lot of her beautiful paintings include roses, and much to our delight, many of them are pink! We were very impressed by Jo-Anne's sense of style, and art work, particularly by her beautiful renditions of roses. So we were delighted when she kindly agreed to take out some time to talk to Pink Rose Delight.

The Interview

1. Jo-Anne, thanks so much for agreeing to do an interview with us. We love your blog at Vintage Rose Collection, and are sure our readers will too. We are impressed by your sense of style, and art work, including your paintings of roses. A lot of your work seems to feature roses, especially pink ones, so we certainly have a passion in common! Do you remember how and when you first fell in love with roses? Do you recall when you first started drawing roses and did you have a teacher or did it just come naturally?

I’ve always been drawn to roses and the color pink since an early age. However, it wasn’t until my first born that I began painting roses. My inspiration came from a small shop in my home town that showcased antique white furniture painted with ivy and roses. I fell in love with the look. I bought some brushes and craft paints and began practicing roses on my walls, over doorways and furniture. My home became my canvas. Being a self taught artist, my inspiration came from old rose paintings of the Victorian era. With plenty of practice and years later, I finally settled into my niche.

2. Your blog is very creative and you do everything from the taking the pictures of your work, creating the works themselves and then presenting them beautifully on your site and blog. How did you decide to pick blogging as one of the focus points for your artistic energy and expression?

Besides painting, my second love is photography and styling. Setting up a beautiful vignette and capturing a cozy nook on film is very rewarding. Blogging came along as a form of updating my customers on new findings as well as sharing ideas and meeting other creative bloggers. It’s a great form of expression and a way to connect with my readers.

3. What are the most challenging and rewarding aspects of your work?

The most challenging, umm, probably staying focused on one particular design aspect. It’s difficult because I enjoy it all, the photography, painting, designing, editing, developing new products, web design, blogging. If I don’t know something, I research and find out about it. The most rewarding aspects of my work would be the before and after of a project. The end result and the satisfaction I feel from turning something old and tattered into a beautiful keepsake heirloom.

4. What's in the future for you and your blog? Is there anything else you'd like to talk about that might be of interest to our readers?

I am in the developing stages of two books. One will be a coffee table decorating/photography book and the other is a dedication to the lovely antique gift books of the 1800’s that scripted poems and lovely rose illustrations. My rose paintings will be included with lovely daily devotionals and inspirational sayings.

Thanks again Jo-Anne for taking the time out to answer these questions for PinkRoseDelight.com! I am sure our readers will enjoy reading your Vintage Rose Collection blog and seeing your beautiful work.

Thank you, it was my pleasure.
